Bobby Bones Recap Tuesday October 1st
Beginning of Show
Some sad news to start the show – Kimberly Perry from The Band Perry is engaged. Bobby likes to say, “Ain’t no ring, ain’t no thang,” but unfortunately that no longer applies. Ray and LB both gave their statements of disappointment. She described the moment as a fairytale, which included a pink dress that she had once mentioned to her mother and an oak tree in her backyard that she has always dreamed of getting engaged under.
Two men were driving home in Florida when one of them wanted to pull over to go to the bathroom. One of the guys thought that he heard a snake in the bushes so he pulled out his gun to shoot, and he ended up shooting his friend in the leg.
Tell Me Something Good
A ten-year-old girl in Massachusetts decided that she didn’t want birthday presents this year, but instead wanted people to donate to the Police department. They donated over $1,000 to buy bulletproof vests for the K-9’s.
A soldier from Kentucky was returning home and he wanted to surprise his family. He dressed up as a mascot at his brother’s football game that both his parents and brother were in attendance of.
Hillary spent six months preparing for her 22nd birthday. She wasn’t planning a party or coming up with a list of gifts. Instead, she was figuring out how to accomplish 22 random acts of kindness.
Show and Tell News
A man was mobbed by motorcyclists and an SUV after hitting a biker. The man was treated for lacerations to his face and body, but luckily there were no fatal injuries.
Apple is now the most valuable brand in the world, surpassing Coca-Cola.
Police in CA are looking for a man who walked into a convenience store, tried to buy a cigar for $1.41. He only had a dollar and when the cashier would not give him the extra $.41 he reached over and punched her in the face.
The government is shut down for the first time in seventeen years. All government buildings and state parks are closed, which means there are no rules today! Nada thinks it is the real-life version of the movie The Purge.
Mazda 6 cars are now being recalled after some of the drivers-side doors were opening while on the road.
Fast food drive-thru lanes are getting slower. Chick-Fil-A is among the slowest.
After getting in trouble for telling a joke about the Titanic yesterday, a woman tweeted at Amy saying that she told the joke to her class of eight year olds, and none of them were offended. Bobby didn’t think the joke was that offensive, and he fired back with an even better one that he saw on Twitter.
“What do the Titanic and The Sixth Sense have in common? Icy dead people.”
Ray and Tinder
Ray went out with four girls last week from Tinder. He says that three out of four will make it through to the next round. One was 33, which is too old for him. He warned listeners that people can see when you were last on the app. One girl got upset when she noticed that Ray had been active on Tinder just four hours ago. The gang agreed that it was a little unreasonable for her to expect him to stop using the app after going on a few dates. Ray had another interesting experience when he tried to bring a girl back to his house, but she wouldn’t go inside because LB’s pit bulls were sitting at the door ready to attack. LB said that they were not waiting to attack…they just wanted to say hi!
90 Second Skinny
Luke Bryan, Josh Turner, Alison Krauss, and George Straight are guest starring on the Duck Dynasty holiday album, which will hit stores on October 29th.
Dierks Bentley has no idea to expect when his first son arrives later this month. He says it seems like just yesterday that he was single and playing in bars.
Carrie Underwood wants to hear more female solo artists on the airwaves. Cassadee Pope, Miranda Lambert, and Taylor Swift are the only three female solo artists on the charts right now.
What Year Was It
Heather called in to play What Year Was It, but unfortunately she cut out so Random Kid Cody took over in her place.
Song: “Where the Green Grass Grows” Tim Mcgraw
Movie: Ever After: A Cinderella Story starring Drew Barrymore
Event: Matthew Sheppard was tragically beaten to death.
RKC picked LB, and the year was 1998 so no one got it right.
Lorde bashes Taylor
“Royals” by Lorde is the number one song on the pop charts right now. Craig Campbell came in yesterday to record a cover with the Raging Idiots. Check it out below!
Lorde was publicly bashing Taylor Swift saying that she is a bad role model because she is too perfect. She claimed that Taylor’s image is too unattainable, and girls should not have an unrealistic expectation of how they should be. Amy said she would rather young girls look up to Taylor Swift rather than someone like Miley Cyrus.
Phone girl Sydney gave us a recap of last night’s episode of The Voice. Kaley Cuoco’s sister is on this season of The Voice. She sang “You and I” and Christina and CeeLo turned around. She ended up picking Christina, although the gang agreed she wasn’t the best singer. Sydney’s favorite was a guy named Preston Pole, who sang “Electric Feel” by MGMT. Bobby made fun of Sydney for not knowing who the original artist was.
Kacey Musgraves’ new single
Kacey Musgraves is getting flack for her new single “Follow Your Arrow” because it touches on sensitive topics. Bobby thinks the song is all about finding your happiness, and what you do doesn’t matter as long as you’re not hurting anyone. Bobby and LB are both on her team! So is Eddie. So is Amy too.
Bobby found an article all about bartender signaling, which he admitted he has recently struggled with. In Vegas, Bobby was annoyed because he couldn’t get the attention of the bartender. LB is a self-proclaimed expert on bartender signaling. He says the best way to get the attention of a bartender is with a wink, or to hold your cash up so that they know you’re ready to pay. He mentioned that he sometimes snaps at bartenders too, which the gang did not think was appropriate. Despite what most people think, the article said that you should stand there, make eye contact, and face them but don’t make gestures because it is insulting.
Funny YouTube videos
Bobby was sitting at home yesterday laughing hit butt off by himself over a few different YouTube videos.
The first was a video of a cat jumping to the song “Sail” by AWOLNATION.
He was also loving a video of a marching band that was sadly interrupted when the Tuba section experienced a pile up mid-song.
A girl quit her job by making a YouTube video.
How the government shut down will affect you
No national parks.
If you are a federal employee, you are on unpaid leave.
You still need to pay your taxes.
You will still get your mail.
You can’t get a gun permit.
No federal loans.
No city services including trash collection in the D.C. area.
American pride might suffer.
A Ukrainian couple ended up dead after stopping to smooch on some railroad tracks.
More and more people are going Dutch on engagement rings nowadays. Bobby doesn’t think that is a good idea, and he also brought up the fact that he would gladly sign a prenup if his fiancé made more than him. LB thinks that women would value their rings more if they paid for half of it. Producer Alayna says that if her ring is not Tiffany’s, she doesn’t want it, but she would be willing to chip in for it.
Apparently there is a person that people tip who Bobby said he would feel weird handing money to. Over 25% of people said that they tip their flight attendant. Tipping experts say that it is not required to tip your flight attendant, but they are accepted. A number of flight attendants say that passengers often give them cash tips after a flight. LB said the only time he has tipped his flight attendant was when they gave free drinks on his flight to Vegas. He handed over a $20 bill.
LB was cautious on a recent flight that had TV screens on the backs of the seats. Bobby and Amy were both watching them, but LB did not want to be charged. He was not falling for that scam! When he found out after getting off the flight that it was, in fact free, he was pumped for the flight home, but was disappointed when he realized that his TV screen was broken.
LB also saw an eighteen year old at the airport yesterday who didn’t have any form of ID with him. Amy thought that maybe it could have been his first time flying, so we shouldn’t be too harsh.
A twenty-four year old guy was killed when he fell out of a party bus and was run over by multiple cars. He was at the front of the bus changing the music while celebrating his friend’s birthday when he fell.
Bobby doesn’t think party busses are fun because you can’t go home when you want to. LB said that’s the fun part about them. He is a fan. So is Ray, who was asked to fist pump on a party bus full of guys for $500, which was not worth it to him.
After quitting college because of an anxiety disorder RKC is here interning, but he desperately needs a job. People were calling in yesterday offering him interviews. He was most interested in a landscaping job, but he never got a call back. He has a few leads though.
RKC went on a Tinder date this past weekend, but had to bail when they went downtown because of the crowds of people. He has medicine that helps his anxiety, but still has some trouble in big crowds.
Nicole from Amarillo called in to say that her friend wants to do a news story on RKC, so that’s pretty cool!
Tune in tomorrow at 8:30/7:30CST to hear about a new controversial mask out just in time for Halloween!
